This government decision is part of what I call the legal revolution against the place of religion in society. It is a rejection of the legal rights, enshrined in the Charter, that religious communities and individuals hold to express their religious commitments in public service.

What the fuss about ticking a box on the Canada Summer Jobs application is about

When government establishes a program for all citizens, it must do so with an open, fair hand, not make it subject to ideological … beliefs while pretending to enforce legal principles when no such principles exist or are contentious.

The Liberals don’t get why religious Canadians refuse to submit to their political dictates

…Nothing is worth more than religious conscience. Political dictates, if contrary to spiritual beliefs, cannot be followed, no matter the consequences.

Sometimes … we are privileged to witness the uncompromising conviction of individuals who boldly take a public stand to defend what’s right. On March 19, 2018, the Parliamentary vote on the Canada Summer Jobs issue marked one of those rare instances. We saw men and women literally rise to the occasion when everyone else in their circle sat down.
